Tantric Belly Dance at the Lightning in a Bottle Festival, 2015

11295862_10152910903785885_5795732284986331035_nThe Temple of Consciousness invited me back to teach my Tantric‬ Belly dance workshop at the Lightning in a Bottle Festival again this year.  This time I taught about hundred people, none of whom had been to one of my classes before!  Most were under 30 yrs old and some of them were men.  It was the first morning of the Festival so everyone was still fairly normal.  But then, that all changed when we had a blast together!  The workshop got them in their bodies dancing, smiling and in a high vibration space….

Extra time at the workshop  gave us a rare treat.  After a communication mix up… thank you Mercury retrograde… I ended up with an extra 10 minutes to fill.   Intuitively I had a sense to have the last witness dance for the MEN in the room. They were so powerful and into it, that the women present had to jump up and dance with them.  They blew us all away.  See a short Iphone VIDEO snippet here….

After that everyone looked at me in disbelief…we had raised the roof!  Then we sat and set intentions together to make beautiful heart aligned connections all weekend.  And I suspect they did.

The workshop is mentioned in Wild Spice Mag:

and then I performed too!

Tantric Belly Dance and DJ Dragon Fly at the ‘Temple Of Consciousness’

JKDJDI was paired up with well loved DJ, DJ Dragonfly.  It was a cool challenge to dance Tantric Belly Dance moves to deep thumpy bass music, intertwined with middle eastern sounds.  I counterpointed the strong drums with lyrical snakey moves.
Meditating before the set helped me with Stagefright.  Once I was out on stage though, it was fun an easy :).  And doing Tantric Breathing while performing made the performance very intuitive and full of shakti (feminine presence).

I met a fellow dancer at a gatheiring  a week later and she thanked me for being the highlight of her plant medicine journey that night!

Lighting in a Bottle 2014 Adventure!

The Temple of Consciousness at the Lightning in a Bottle Festival asked me to teach my class as part of their movement repertoire, and I jumped in enthusiastically.  However I had to adapt it to the environment!  It was in the open air, 97 degrees, daytime, included men, and I had a sprained ankle (from a night time run in with the rough terrain) and included 60 people!
It was an exciting challenge and I so enjoyed filling up those shiny expectant faces with wisdom and fun.  We had a blast, and the brave ladies who did a solo dance in a circle of 60 witnesses were totally transformed.

Beginning Belly Dance instruction for the whole group

Seeing how moved they were, and how they touched and galvanised the rest of the circle showed me that this practice works, even in a less than comfy temple space.  The men who stayed the course had a great time, and were happily respectful.  Everyone was so excited by the end that the whole group got down to Bassnectar’s Snakecharmer to prepare them for a night dancing with the headliners Beats Antique.

More festivals to come!

Lightning in a Bottle 2013 report: ♥

LIB was… too too HOT. seriously. dancing daytime was kinda impossible and everyone kept falling asleep in the talks.  Yet it was AMAZING.  I drew an energy portrait in a workshop with Alex and Alyson Grey!  And listened to an amazing Trance channel Bashar as he enchanted, entertained and RAISED the vibration of at least the 500 people sitting there.

Meditating at the nature shrine on the beach was beautiful. It was a poetic offering to nature and spirit.

I managed to dance off the hook and have a peak experience TWICE in 48hrs, which is a record. The days were hotter than hot and I could barely move, so the nights were on. We rocked out.

The FIRST peak was Saturday night… randomly came across Rusko from the UK.  He played the most high energy fun set I think I have every heard.  Drum and bass mostly with him singing and talking over the mike too.  He leapt around the stage waving his arms in the air the whole 2 hr set. Only bringing them down to twiddle his DJ dials.  Soooooo good.

Collective effervescence.

The SECOND and even better peak was Phutureprimitive on Sunday night. He was AMAZING. The crowd were high as high and he was full of love, and it was soooo wild and exciting. I did not expect such a high energy set from him, but MAN did he rock it. I danced my butt off even more and actually had a kundalini rising experience on the dance floor!!  I channeled all my belly dance high vibe, nature love whatever the hell fairy realm sexed up energy, right down through my crown chakra and my body into the earth, and then back out my head, hands and heart. When that happened I went somewhere amazing, becoming totally ecstatic, and the other realms I connected with were pouring out wild love and energy through my body and energy field. Random hugs, synchronistic meetings with my camp-mates and the whole dance floor was me and I was them and we just flew.

nuff said? awesome experience.  Magic…
